'Freak injury' puts South Africa's De Kock out of 3rd test

JOHANNESBURG (AP) South Africa wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock will miss the third test against England with a `freak injury' after falling at home and hurting his knee on the eve of the game.

South Africa says it will replace De Kock with Dane Vilas, who will have to fly from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg on the morning of the test to fill in.

Cricket South Africa said Vilas was on his way to Johannesburg but AB de Villiers, who has taken over the South African captaincy, will have to also fill in as wicketkeeper if South Africa fields first at the Wanderers.

South Africa team manager Mohammed Moosajee said De Kock initially thought his injury wasn't serious but then woke up early Thursday morning with a badly swollen right knee.
