TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State's new logo will be officially unveiled Friday night, but it has already started to appear on campus.

The logo has been painted at midfield at Doak Campbell Stadium in advance of Saturday's spring football game.

Florida State officials said they have spent about two years researching and redesigning the logo, which will be shown to the public in a downtown ceremony beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Coach Jimbo Fisher said that what the logo represents hasn't changed.

"It's still our Seminole head," Fisher said. "It doesn't change Florida State and what our values are. I don't see the issues with it. Did I like the old one? Yes. Did I like the new one? Yes. It's not drastically that much different. I've been a Florida State fan, too. I don't think it's that big a deal. If the Seminole Tribe is fine with things and they like that, to me that's great. It still doesn't change our traditions our values and what we are."

Florida State is also expected to show off redesigned uniforms.
