Gophers senior guard Morris dismissed from team
Minnesota Gophers head coach Richard Pitino announced senior guard Carlos Morris has been dismissed due to conduct detrimental to the team.
The 6-foot-5 Morris had played in 24 games this season with 16 starts, averaging 25.6 minutes, 9.8 points and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 38.3 percent from the field, including 35.2 percent from 3.
Morris played his first two years at Chipola College before transferring to Minnesota. Last season, he played in 33 games with 25 starts, averaing 11.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
After playing 24 minutes in loss to Michigan, Morris saw just four minutes of on-court time in Sunday's loss to Iowa.
A release from Minnesota indicates Morris will remain on scholarship and have access to academic support services through the remainder of the school year.
The 6-19 Gophers next play Thursday when they host Maryland.
