Gordon, Hosmer and Perez are Royals' Gold Glove finalists

A trio of multi-Gold Glove winners for the Royals are finalists for more fielding hardware for their stellar performances in 2016.

Left fielder Alex Gordon, first baseman Eric Hosmer and catcher Salvador Perez have been named finalists for 2016 American League Gold Glove Awards. The players have combined to win 10 Gold Gloves in their careers -- Gordon four (from 2011-14) and Hosmer and Perez three each (2013-15).

The Royals' three finalists are tied for second most in the major leagues, behind only Detroit's four. Six clubs have three finalists this season -- Kansas City, Arizona, Boston, Chicago Cubs, Houston and San Francisco.

Winners will be revealed Nov. 8. Selections are based on voting by major league managers and coaches (75 percent) and members of the sabermetrics community (25 percent).

If Gordon wins, he will become the second Royal to be honored five times or more, joining second baseman Frank White (eight -- 1977-82 and '86-87). The last outfielder to win at least five awards in a six-year span in either league was Torii Hunter, who won nine straight from 2001-09. The other left field finalists are Houston's Colby Rasmus and the Yankees' Brett Gardner.

Hosmer is looking to become the first AL first baseman to win four straight Gold Gloves since Don Mattingly (1991-94). He is the only Royal to win a Gold Glove at first base. Other nominations at first base are Baltimore's Chris Davis and Texas' Mitch Moreland.

Perez, the second Royals catcher to win a Gold Glove (after Bob Boone in 1989), would become the first AL catcher to win as many as four straight Gold Gloves since Pudge Rodriguez was honored 10 straight years (1992-2001). He is up against Carlos Perez of the Los Angeles Angels and Detroit's James McCann.
