Graham Zusi surprises ill Sporting KC fan with jersey, tickets
Sporting Kansas City fan Thephayonh “Lee” Promsenmuong talked about his favorite team all the time. He transitioned to the Rehabilitation Center of Independence after he suffered heart failure three months ago. He recounted how he attended Sporting KC matches from the inaugural season back in 1996 and how he wanted to someday return to Children's Mercy Park to see his team.
Promsenmuong never expected what followed on Thursday: A visit from his favorite player, Sporting KC midfielder Graham Zusi.
Zusi shared pizza with Promsenmuong and talked shop with him during their lunch meeting. The veteran United States midfielder also brought Promsenmuong a personalized jersey and several tickets to Sporting KC's home opener against Vancouver Whitecaps on March 12.
“It’s real,” Promsenmuong told the Kansas City Star. “My dream come true.”
