Hawks guard Kyle Korver to undergo elbow surgery
Atlanta Hawks sharpshooter Kyle Korver will undergo his second surgery of the offseason on Tuesday.
The veteran guard will have surgery on his right elbow, the team announced. The surgery will remove "loose bodies" in the elbow, an issue that bothered Korver during the 2014-15 season.
The surgery is being performed by Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. A recovery timeline has not been set.
Korver previously underwent ankle surgery following the team's playoff exit against the Cleveland Cavaliers last month. In public appearances since his first surgery, Korver has been seen wearing a walking boot. He was scheduled for a follow-up on Monday.
"It definitely could've been way worse," Korver said of the ankle injury last week. "It could have been knee and my leg and the ankle. It ended up not being as bad."
When asked about the ankle injury, Korver said he expects to be able to return to the court by training camp.
Korver was the NBA's top 3-point shooter for the second straight season, shooting 49.2 percent from the outside en route to his first career All-Star appearance. The 34-year-old averaged 12.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
