Huber among new UC Hall of Fame inductees

CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics named a four-person class for induction into the James P. Kelly UC Athletics Hall of Fame.
Included in this year's class are Kevin Huber (football), Jolinda Lewis-Miller (women's basketball), Dr. Ken Stephens (contributor) and Matt Singer (baseball).
The inductees will be honored at the annual Legion of Excellence gala, set to take place on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 at the Phoenix, located at 812 Race Street in downtown Cincinnati. A reception gets underway at 6:15 p.m. ET, followed by dinner and the event program at 7 p.m.
In addition to honoring this year's hall of fame class, the Legion of Excellence will select two new members into the Order of the Black Blazer and celebrate the academic achievements of the 2014 scholar-athletes of each sport.

Matt Singer (Baseball) - Four-year regular in the outfield...career .343 average ranks 9th at UC ... is first in ABs (922), second in runs (279), first in hits (316), second in HRs (52), first in RBI (239 in UC career records ... best season: .391, 17 HR, 79 RBI as a sophomore ... three-time All-Conference USA pick and 2001 C-USA Scholar Athlete of the Year...2001 Jimmy Nippert Award.
Kevin Huber (Football) - Two-time Consensus All-America selection at punter ... first UC player to earn back-to-back Associated Press First Team all-America honors ... earned Consensus All-America honors in 2008, including First-Team All-America honors by Rivals.com, the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), and the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). He was also a First-Team All-BIG EAST selection and was a Consensus First-Team All-American in 2007 ... led the BIG EAST and ranked seventh nationally in 2008 with a 45.0 yards per punt average ... had a long kick of 64 yards in 2008, 24 punts inside the 20, and 20 kicks of 50 yards or more ... only three of his 60 punts in 2008 were touchbacks ... UC led the nation in net punting in both 2008 and 2009 ... drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals with the 142nd pick in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
Jolinda Lewis-Miller (Women's Basketball) - Playing at UC from 1994-98, Miller appears eighth on Cincinnati's all-time scoring list with 1,523 career points, averaging double-digits each season and finishing with a career scoring average of 13.6 points ... the guard ranks second all-time in three-pointers (282) made, fifth in three-point field-goal percentage (36.0), seventh in career minutes played (3,589), seventh in assists (327) and ninth in free throws made (293) ... Miller holds three of the top-seven spots on Cincinnati's single-season three-pointers list, draining at least 70 each campaign. Her field-goal percentage of 40.2 percent during the 1995-96 season ranks fifth on the single season list while her 85.1 percent shooting effort from the free throw line during both the 1994-95 and 1996-97 seasons are the sixth-best single season marks ... A two-time All-Conference USA selection, Miller was the team's top score during three seasons while also leading the team in assists twice. Stephens held voluntary faculty appointments in Environmental Health, Orthopedics and Family Medicine, as well as College of Education ... President of the board of directors of the National Operating Committee for Standards in Athletic Equipment ... Volunteer physician with the U.S. Olympic Committee ... Fellow in the American College of Preventive Medicine and American College of Sports Medicine ... Founding member of American Medical Society for Sports Medicine ... Memberships in the American College Health Association and the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine ... Dr. Stephens is also a Pharmacist, having earned his degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy.
