Idaho State athletic director fired as teams struggle to win
POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — Idaho State University says athletic director Jeff Tingey has been fired.
School President Kevin Satterlee on Tuesday told the Idaho State Journal that Tingey's removal does not involve any scandal or violation.
Tingey will receive his $150,000 annual salary until his contract expires in June 2019.
The school last week announced that Tingey had been placed on administrative leave but didn't offer an explanation.
Satterlee says the school is looking to change the direction of the athletic department.
Tingey has been the school's athletic director since 2009.
The school's football team and men's basketball team have each had one winning season since Tingey became athletic director.
The school says it will conduct a national search for a new athletic director.
