India wins toss, bats in 1st ODI vs. Australia
PERTH, Australia (AP) India won the toss and elected to bat Tuesday in the first of five one-day internationals against Austraia at the WACA Ground.
Both teams will go into the match with newcomers among their pace attacks. India has named left-armer Barinder Sran to play his first one-day international, while Australia has two fast bowlers making their debut - West Australia's Joe Paris and Victoria's Scott Boland.
India omitted Gurkeerat Sing, Ishant Sharma, Axar Patel and Rishi Dhawan from its match XI, naming Ghuvneshwar Kumar and Manish Pandey instead.
Australia captain Steve Smith said he would likely have bowled first if he'd won the toss as overcast conditions might provide early assistance for the swing bowlers.
