Indians' Swisher exits game early due to injury
CLEVELAND -- Nick Swisher left Sunday's game during the ninth inning after straining his right wrist on a previous at-bat.
According to manager Terry Francona, Swisher suffered the strain when he swung at a Yu Darvish breaking ball on the second pitch of the at-bat. Swisher struck out in all three of his plate appearances on Sunday.
"He showed pretty good strength (in the wrist) but will be looked at tomorrow and we'll evaluate from there," Francona said.
Swisher was on the disabled list earlier this season after hyperextending his left knee. Since coming off the DL, he is batting .213 which is also his batting average for the season. Of the 40 games he has started in that span, 34 have been at designated hitter.
Chris Dickerson, who had missed the last two games after tweaking his right knee, was inserted into the game in Swisher's spot. He drew a walk in the ninth and then led off the 12th with a double.
