Every year, FOX Bracket Challenge players are full of hope and optimism as the first NCAA Tournament game tips off Thursday afternoon. For some, brackets begin to turn red as soon as Game 1 comes to a close. Others hold out longer, but it's inevitable that the perfect brackets we envision will not materialize. View the timeline below to see how each game impacted the number of remaining perfect brackets.

If your bracket is in ruins, check out the FOX Second Chance Bracket Challenge, where your dream of a perfect bracket remains alive and well.
