Inglis, Vaughn highlight Bucks summer league roster

Published Jul. 2, 2015 12:15 p.m. ET

In the midst of the league-wide free agency frenzy, the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday announced their roster for the 2015 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

The list of players is highlighted by first-round pick Rashad Vaughn and 2014 second-rounder Damien Inglis. There are two players on the squad that actually suited up for the Bucks last year and are also notable -- forward Johnny O'Bryant, another 2014 second-rounder, and 26-year-old point guard Jorge Gutierrez, who was signed midway through last season.

But Vaughn, 18, and Inglis, 20, are the big names. Vaughn, the second-youngest player in the 2015 draft, was selected by Milwaukee with the 17th overall pick. At 6-foot-6, 210 pounds, Vaughn, who averaged 17.8 points per game (on 43.9 percent shooting, including 38.3 percent from 3-point range) in his freshman season at UNLV, is considered to have the size and scoring ability to play shooting guard in the NBA. He's coming off a season-ending injury to his left knee, but told Milwaukee reporters the knee is ''100 percent" and ''I have no concerns at all about it. Everything is good."

He'll get to test it out alongside Inglis, who is also coming off a major injury. Inglis, the Bucks' 31st pick last year, was sidelined for his entire rookie season with a broken ankle sustained in workouts before the 2014 draft. He'll make his Bucks debut in the summer league, and the team will be eager to see what the athletic, 6-8, 225-pound forward can do when healthy.

This summer-league squad lacks the luster of last year's edition, which featured Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker, and also does not contain any players with local ties, as has sometimes been the case in the past.

Milwaukee opens play in Las Vegas against the New Orleans Pelicans on July 10. Two days later they play the San Antonio Spurs, and the following day they conclude the opening round against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Following those first three contests, teams will be seeded for a single-elimination tournament that concludes with a championship game on July 20.
