'Inside the Magic: Slam Dunk Contest' premieres March 15 on FOX Sports Florida
ORLANDO, Fla. -- It was the only moment during this year's NBA All-Star Weekend when a player sitting down brought thousands to their feet. On Tuesday, March 15 at 10 p.m., "Inside the Magic: Slam Dunk Contest" will debut on FOX Sports Florida highlighting high-flying Aaron Gordon's feats. Magic fans are encouraged to tune in as host Emily Austen and FOX Sports Florida present the history of the dunk competition dating back to 1976 in the ABA and 1984 in the NBA.
"Inside the Magic: Slam Dunk Contest" will revisit every Magic participant over the years, including Otis Smith in 1991, Nick Anderson in 1992, Dwight Howard's three-year stint from 2007-09 and Victor Oladipo in 2015. We focus on this year's event when Aaron Gordon and Zach LaVine competed in what many consider one of the best dunk contests ever. Gordon talks about practicing and competing in the event, while providing details and difficulty level for each dunk. We also interview Gordon's sister and manager, Elise Gordon, who was there for every dunk practice.
The show has an additional segment about the past All-Star games played in Orlando, including the 1992 All-Star Game which was famous for being Magic Johnson's last and the 2012 All-Star game that showed off the new Amway Center. Interviews on the show include Magic CEO Alex Martins, Magic SVP Pat Williams, Magic legend and community ambassador Nick Anderson, along with current teammates in Oladipo, Gordon, Elfrid Payton and Mario Hezonja.
