'Inside the Panthers: A Pirate's Life' premieres Jan. 23 on FOX Sports Florida
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Jan. 22, 2016) -- Hop aboard the S.S. FOX Sports Florida and join Captain Jessica Blaylock as we set sail for Portland, Maine, home of the Portland Pirates. On Saturday, Jan. 23 at 10:00 p.m., "Inside the Panthers: A Pirate's Life" will premiere statewide on FOX Sports Florida following the Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning game.
This all-new episode of "Inside the Panthers" presents an all-access look at the Panthers new American Hockey League affiliate. The Pirates have been in Portland since 1993, ironically, the same season the Panthers began play in the NHL. The teams agreed to a four-year player development agreement before the start of this season. "Inside the Panthers: A Pirate's Life" features interviews with Pirates COO Eric Church, Pirates General Manager Eric Joyce and Panthers Executive chairman Peter Luukko.
Be sure to tune in and watch as goalie Mike McKenna, who has played for the Pirates in two previous seasons, shows "Inside The Panthers" around town, including a couple of his favorite restaurants and a visit to the famed Cape Elizabeth lighthouse. Also featured are interviews with Pirates players Shane Harper, Mike Matheson, Kyle Rau, Brent Regner, Rocco Grimaldi, Garrett Wilson, Dylan Olsen, Sena Acolatse and Rob Schremp.
Fans will also be introduced to the Pirates coaching staff, led by Head Coach Tom Rowe and Assistant Coach Scott Allen. The duo first began coaching together 11 years ago in Lowell, Mass., and began their second full season together working for the Panthers. Rowe was promoted to the position of Panthers Associate General Manager on Jan. 1, 2016, after "Inside the Panthers" had visited Portland. Allen is now Head Coach of Portland.
