'Inside the Rays: Winter Meetings' premieres Dec. 19 on FOX Sports Sun
TAMPA, Fla.-- On Saturday, Dec. 19 at 7:00 p.m., FOX Sports Sun, the statewide television home of the Tampa Bay Rays, will debut an all-new episode of "Inside the Rays." Titled "Winter Meetings," this episode will take Rays fans behind the scenes at the 2015 Major League Baseball Winter Meetings in Nashville, Tenn.
Rays Manager Kevin Cash joined us for an exclusive interview where he detailed the difference from this year's meetings to last year's when Cash had just been named Tampa Bay's skipper. Rays President of Baseball Operations Matt Silverman talks about the challenges the organization faces heading into the 2016 season and the approach at this year's Winter Meetings. Also attending the meetings in Nashville is Rays Gold Glove winner Kevin Kiermaier, on hand to accept another award recognizing his defensive prowess in the Esurance MLB Award for Best Defensive Player.
The 2015 Baseball Trade Show, in conjunction with the Baseball Winter Meetings and PBEO Job Fair, is also spotlighted and makes up a large part of the gathering inside the Gaylord Opryland Resort. The trade show takes up over 150,000 square feet, with 270 exhibitors showcasing products from apparel and equipment to all types of promotional items. Host Todd Kalas takes some time to catch up with longtime Rays beat reporter and Tampa Bay Times writer Marc Topkin, who has attended the Winter Meetings for almost 30 years. Marc brings viewers along with him to witness his role in reporting all the Rays news and notes as they happen.
Away from the meetings, the Florida State League's Hall of Fame banquet inducted two longtime Tampa Bay Rays employees, Director of Minor League Operations Mitch Lukevics and Merchandise Manager Debbie Brooks. Finally, Kevin Cash, his wife Emily and their children visited All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg to lend a hand and serve Thanksgiving meals to the families of children spending the holiday in the hospital.
