It's as serious as it looked: Blues place Steen on IR
ST. LOUIS -- Good news, then bad news. On the same day the St. Louis Blues activated one star from injured reserve (goalie Jake Allen), they added a new player to the list: forward Alexander Steen.
It was evident when Steen left the ice in the first period Saturday night that he was hurting. After crashing into the base of the boards following a hard check by Arizona's Kevin Connauton, Steen reached for his left arm, got up while cradling his left arm in his right and skated quickly off the ice, straight to a room for treatment. He did not return.
The Blues announced that he will be re-evaluated in four weeks.
Steen had a goal and an assist in his short time on the ice Saturday. The Blues went on to beat the Coyotes 6-4.
Steen ranks second on the team with 47 points. He has 17 goals and 30 assists.
