COLUMBUS, OH -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed center Alexander Wennberg on Injured Reserve as a result of a foot injury, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The injury is expected to sideline Wennberg for two weeks.
The 21-year-old was the club's first pick, 14th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft. He has scored a goal and averaged 13:09 of ice time in 10 games this season. Wennberg missed five games earlier this year after suffering a concussion in the Jackets season opener vs. the New York Rangers on October 9. The Stockholm, Sweden native recorded 4-16-20 with 22 penalty minutes in 68 games in his first NHL season in 2014-15.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Friday when they visit the Pittsburgh Penguins. Game time from CONSOL Energy Center is 7 p.m. ET. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio begins with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show at 6:30 p.m.
