Joel Klatt thinks Michigan will beat Ohio State or Michigan State this season
Michigan is already showing improvements under new head coach Jim Harbaugh, so much so that FOX Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt sees the Wolverines pulling a major upset this season.
Klatt predicted Wednesday's on FS1 that Michigan could very well be a top 10 team this season and will shock one of the current top two teams in the country.
"They're gonna beat Michigan State or Ohio State," Klatt said. "They're good. Michigan is really good."
Michigan is 3-1 this season, their lone loss coming in the first week of the season on the road against Utah, currently ranked No. 12 in the coaches poll.
Just how far have the Wolverines come in only a handful of games under Harbaugh?
An interesting stat from Klatt: In the first 62 minutes of its season, Michigan gave up 31 points. In the last 178 minutes, the Wolverines have allowed just seven points, most recently shutting out BYU.
Is Klatt's bold prediction far-fetched? Michigan does get both the Spartans and Buckeyes at home this season.
And when you look back at the last two years of the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry, the Wolverines have competed. They were a two-point conversion away from knocking off the Buckeyes in 2013. Last season's 42-28 defeat isn't quite as authoritative as it looks on paper, as the game was tied at 21 late in the third quarter before Ohio State ran away with it.
Those two were with the much-maligned Hoke at the helm. Now it's Harbaugh who squares off with Urban Meyer and the already legendary rivalry should only be amplified.
