Johaug comes from behind on final day to win Tour de Ski
CAVALESE, Italy (AP) Therese Johaug erased a deficit of nearly 40 seconds entering the final stage to win her second Tour de Ski title Sunday.
Johaug, who also won the week-long event in 2014, was fastest on the finishing climb up Mount Cermis to win by 2 minutes, 20.9 seconds ahead of Norwegian teammate Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg.
Heidi Weng, another Norwegian, finished third overall, 3:13.9 behind, after the concluding 9-kilometer freestyle pursuit leg.
In the men's event, Martin Johnsrud Sundby won his third consecutive title by a 3:15.7 margin ahead of fellow Norwegian Finn Haagen Krogh.
Sergey Ustiogov of Russia took third, 3:43.8 behind, while Petter Northug Jr. dropped from second to fourth on the final day.
Sundby opened up a huge 550-point lead ahead of Krogh in the overall World Cup standings.
