Kenya soon expects to conclude doping cases from worlds
NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) The Kenyan athletics federation has held hearings for the two athletes who failed doping tests at this year's world championships and expects to release findings in the next few days.
Athletics Kenya chief executive Isaac Mwangi says hearings were held Monday for 400-meter runner Joyce Zakary and hurdler Koki Manunga.
They tested positive for unspecified banned substances at the worlds in Beijing in August following targeted tests. They were the latest in a surge of doping cases involving athletes from Kenya, which topped the medals table in Beijing.
Of the hearings, Mwangi said Thursday that Kenyan authorities ''are not only interested in sanctioning the athletes, but we would also like to know the source. We would like to know where this is coming from. Who administered this to the athletes?''
