Kevin Durant on his future: Just trying to 'not get cussed out by Russell Westbrook'
As Kevin Durant returns to the hardwood with the USA Men's National basketball team following a series of foot injuries, and as free agency looms in 2016, the forward's singular focus is on teammate Russell Westbrook's mouth.
“I haven’t even thought about [free agency] recruiting,” Durant quipped to SI.com's Ben Golliver. “I’m just trying to go out there and not get cussed out by Russell Westbrook.”
This might be the equivalent of Marshawn Lynch's "I'm just here so I don't get fined."
The Easy Money but Sometimes Surly Sniper has had his share of staredowns and quarrels with his fiercely competitive Thunder and Team USA teammate Westbrook through the years.
Between the national team's minicamp followed by another season alongside the point guard, good luck to KD trying to avoid a cussing. But judging from his giddiness from being back to business, it sounds like he'll happily welcome it.
“You remember Christmas as a kid?” Durant asked rhetorically, on how it felt to be playing basketball again. “I feel like I’m back to myself."
