INDIANAPOLIS (AP) The late Lauren Hill and O.J. Brigance were selected as this year's NCAA Inspiration Award winners and will be honored at January's annual convention.

Hill was diagnosed with inoperable brain tumor during her senior year of high school but decided to attend Division III Mount St. Joseph and play basketball even though doctors gave her only a year to live. She played in four games and scored 10 points before she was too weak to continue. Hill died in April.

Brigance was a leader on Rice's football team before going to the CFL. Eventually, he played seven seasons in the NFL and won a Super Bowl with Baltimore. In 2007, he was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease. Now 46, he does consulting work with the Ravens.
