The Detroit Lions are building a new exclusive club in the tunnel of Ford Field to give fans an up-close experience as the team is coming on and off the field.

The team announced Tuesday that the MGM Grand Detroit Tunnel Club will be completed for the upcoming season.

It's all part of a plan to update certain aspects of Ford Field, which opened in 2002.

The club will accommodate more than 100 fans, who will have the opportunity to interact with players are they're going to and from the locker room.

Crain's Detroit reported that "two-ticket season packages" will cost $19,000.

"Season members and guests will experience high energy and pronounced interactivity with Lions players throughout game day," team president Tom Lewand said. "They'll be right there when the players are coming in and out of the locker room for pregame, halftime and postgame. That type of engagement can't be replicated anywhere else."

The lower level in the west end zone, near the tunnel, is being extended to feature field-level seating for club members.

Other perks will include unlimited food and beverage, including beer and wine. There will be a cash bar for liquor sales.

"Our team is excited to enter into this partnership with the Detroit Lions," said Steve Zanella, MGM Grand Detroit's president and chief operating officer. "The MGM Grand Detroit Tunnel Club is truly a collaborative, unique and one-of-a-kind game day experience that further extends our long-standing relationship with the Detroit Lions."

The Lions posted a video that includes artist renderings of the new club, which reportedly is being built at a cost of around $2 million.
