Lumberjacks drop Big Sky opener to Montana

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Jamar Akoh scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Ahmaad Rorie added 22 points with four 3-pointers, and Montana beat Northern Arizona 87-69 in Thursday night's Big Sky Conference opener.

It's a season high for points for the Grizzlies (8-5), who never trailed and held the Lumberjacks to 32.7 percent shooting from the floor, a season low for Montana opponents.

Michael Oguine scored 13 points with three steals and Sayeed Pridgett added 10 points off the bench for the Grizzlies, who outrebounded NAU 42-33, outscored them 38-12 in the paint, and scored 27 points off of 19 Lumberjacks' turnovers.

Oguine opened with a 3-pointer, a layup and two free throws and Montana pulled ahead 25-11 after a 16-4 run in which Akoh scored eight points. The Grizzlies led 42-30 at halftime and used a 13-0 run to build its largest lead, 75-51 with 7:05 to play.

Jojo Anderson scored 31 points with four 3-pointers and 17 of 19 free throws to lead NAU (3-11).
