PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Mercury announced the signing of starting forward DeWanna Bonner and rookie center Isabelle Harrison.

Bonner, a 6-foot-4 forward, earned her first WNBA All-Star berth last season while averaging 15.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists and continuing her role as the team's defensive stopper.

"There are not a lot of players in the league who can defend the other team's best player on one end and get you 20 points on the other end, but DeWanna Bonner is one of those players," Mercury General Manager Jim Pitman said. "There are not a lot of players who can be in the running for Defensive Player of the Year one year and league MVP the next, but DeWanna is one of them.  Most of all, though, she is a selfless player who will fill whatever role the team needs in order to help her team win, and that is the reason we are most excited to announce that she has re-signed."

Harrison, a 6-3 center, was the team's first-round selection in the 2015 draft but sat out last season while recovering from a torn ACL suffered during her senior season at Tennessee. She averaged 13.6 points and 9.3 rebounds as a junior while shooting 57.7 percent from the field.
