Miami routs North Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Davon Reed scored 17 points, Ja'Quan Newton had 16 points and a career-high seven assists, and Miami cruised past North Florida 94-56 on Wednesday night.

Miami started the game on a 7-0 run, went on a 14-0 run for a 35-16 lead and held its advantage throughout. The Hurricanes were ahead 48-20 at halftime and opened the second half on an 11-0 run. Newton's sixth assist led to a Bruce Brown basket that gave Miami a 67-27 lead with 12:06 left in the second half.

Freshmen Dewan Huell and DJ Vasiljevic scored in double figures for Miami (2-0). Huell had 15 points and eight rebounds, and Vasiljevic added 13 points. Anthony Lawrence Jr. chipped in 10 points.

Dallas Moore led North Florida (1-2) with 12 points. Wajid Aminu had 11 points and six rebounds, and Garrett Sams added 10 points. The Ospreys were held to 34.4 percent shooting and were outrebounded 46-31.
