Devan Dubnyk, Wild goalie
Dubnyk's shutout streak finally came to an end Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres, but his play so far has been stellar. His three-game shutout streak was a Minnesota Wild record, while his .948 save percentage ranks sixth in the league. This streak was the longest since then-St. Louis Blues goalie Brian Elliott went three games without allowing a goal late last season.
Alex Iafallo, Minnesota Duluth forward
Iafallo powered the Bulldogs to a home sweep of then-No. 1-ranked North Dakota over the weekend, netting his first collegiate hat trick in a 5-2 win Friday. Minnesota Duluth is now the No. 1-ranked team in the nation for the first time since the 2011-12 season.
Gorgui Dieng, Wolves center
Dieng signed a four-year, $64 million extension this week and responded with his best game of the season. He had 17 points and six rebounds in a 116-80 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday, and is now averaging 14.3 points and 11 rebounds per game so far this season.
Bet you didn't see that coming. Turner resigned Wednesday following the Minnesota Vikings' second straight loss, another game in which the Vikings' anemic offense struggled to move the ball. They now rank 31st in total offense, 29th in passing and 31st in rushing under Turner this season, figures that aren't likely to improve under interim coordinator Pat Shurmer. He's the fourth offensive coordinator in the NFL to either resign or be dismissed so far this season.
Sam Bradford, Vikings quarterback
Sympathy for a struggling quarterback is relatively rare in the NFL, but if there's anyone who deserves some it's probably Bradford. He was sacked five times by the Chicago Bears and harassed constantly en route to a 20-10 loss Sunday, while the running game provided little relief. His injured history is well documented, and allowing Bradford to be knocked around at such an alarming rate could mean trouble for the Vikings later on.
Teemu Pulkkinen, Wild forward
Pulkkinen was placed on waivers just 17 days after being claimed by the Minnesota Wild from the Detroit Red Wings. The Wings had first crack at Pulkkinen this time and passed, allowing him to join the Wild's AHL affiliate. The Finnish forward has one goal in eight games for the Wild this season, but should give Iowa a boost. He had 61 points in 46 games last season in the AHL.
