Mike Trout on Home Run Derby: 'I'm eventually going to do it, but you never know' (VIDEO)

Mike Trout seems on the fence about participating in the 2015 Home Run Derby at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

While the derby is still a few days away, it's unlikely we'll see Trout out there alongside slugging first baseman Albert Pujols, who confirmed his participation Tuesday.

"A lot of people have been coming up to me," Trout said prior to Tuesday's opener against the Rockies. "I'm on the cusp of yes. No -- I don't know yet. I'm eventually going to do it, but you never know."

Trout currently ranks second on the Angels in home runs, having hit his 22nd in the Angels' 10-2 win over the Rockies. The game also saw Pujols hit his team-leading 26th homer of the year.

When it comes to the derby, some believe swinging for the fences over and over again is detrimental to one's swing. It's unknown if that's why Trout has yet to participate, but Pujols doesn't believe the derby will affect his swing in the least.

"I enjoy it," Pujols said via Angels.com. "I take it like regular batting practice ... except you have 50,000 people watching you."

Maybe Trout will change his mind and join the derby field. It certainly would be awesome to see one of baseball's rising stars smash homers against his teammate, Pujols, a definite Hall-of-Fame inductee when the time comes.

The Gillette Home Run Derby presented by Head & Shoulders, is July 13. The MLB All-Star Game is July 14 on FOX.
