Mizzou dismisses RB Trevon Walters after arrest

Published Aug. 16, 2016 1:48 p.m. ET

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Missouri running back Trevon Walters has been dismissed from the team after he was accused of stealing and arrested.

Coach Barry Odom announced the dismissal Monday, saying the 21-year-old redshirt sophomore had violated team rules. The dismissal comes after he was suspended indefinitely following his arrest Friday in Columbia on suspicion of stealing and fraudulently using a credit or debit card. Boone County Sheriff's Department records show Walters was booked into the county jail and later released on $5,500 bail.

No charges have been filed against the Bradenton, Florida, native. He doesn't have a listed phone number.

Walters never played a game for Missouri. He redshirted in 2014 and missed the 2015 season because of an injury.
