MLB Quick Hits: Pedroia injured during Red Sox win

Published Jun. 25, 2015 6:32 a.m. ET

Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia was helped off the field Wednesday night after injuring his right hamstring while rounding first base. Pedroia underwent tests after the game, and results will probably be known later today. Let's hope a DL stint isn't in his future.

Hanley Ramirez was also injured in the game when he was hit in the left hand by a line drive. The initial diagnosis was a bruise, and with the Sox playing an afternoon game today, don't expect to see either Pedroia or Ramirez.

Yankees SP Ivan Nova tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings (with just one strikeout) against the Phillies. Let's see what Nova can do against a team that can actually hit; his next start figures to be in Anaheim.

J.J. Hoover closed out the Reds' Wednesday win, but don't expect more saves from him, as Aroldis Chapman is scheduled to come off the paternity list tonight.

Lance Lynn (forearm) returns to the mound tonight for the Cardinals.

Eight of today's 11 games are in the afternoon, starting with White Sox-Tigers at 1:08 p.m. ET. There's also a De La Rosa vs. De La Rosa matchup at Coors Field; Rubby will face Jorge at 3:10.

Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (hamstring) began a rehab assignment on Wednesday, and he'll rejoin the team early next week if all goes well.

With Daniel Murphy likely to come off the DL in a few days, the Mets are talking about playing Murphy at third base, Ruben Tejada at shortstop and Wilmer Flores at second base. This only affects your fantasy squad in terms of positional eligibility.

Angels SP Andrew Heaney pitched six strong innings in his 2015 debut. Heaney is owned in just one percent of FOXSports.com leagues, if you're interested in taking a shot at him. I don't think he's particularly worthy of rostering in 12-team mixed leagues, but if the investment is low, it wouldn't be the worst idea.

We assumed that the Mets' lack of offense would make Jimmy Nelson a solid streaming starter option on Wednesday, and Nelson came through with eight innings of one-run ball. Due to a dearth of options, today's pick is Nelson's teammate, Taylor Jungmann (1.3 percent owned). However, even though he's pitching against the Mets, Jungmann gets only a lukewarm endorsement here. His opponent is Jacob deGrom, too.

DFS advice (based on 50/50 games, day games only, salaries from DraftKings): Jacob deGrom ($10,100) has been so dominant that he's hard to pass up ... If we think Pedroia and Ramirez will be out for the Red Sox, Balimore's Miguel Gonzalez ($7,200) isn't a bad SP option ... Your most obvious stacks are D-backs and Rockies, especially the Colorado lefties against Rubby. The Tigers (vs. Carlos Rodon) are next ... Paul Goldschmidt ($6,300) is the best hitter on the board, but you'll need to work hard on the rest of your roster to fit him. Victor Martinez ($4,000) is a decent, cheaper 1B option ... If SS Kike Hernandez ($2,600) starts for the Dodgers, he'll help you save. So will Alex Guerrero ($2,800) ... Nats OF Clint Robinson ($2,800) has been getting time in the cleanup spot, and could produce against Braves rookie Matt Wisler ... Use some of those cheap guys, and you might be able to afford both Goldschmidt and Miguel Cabrera ($5,700).

See you back here tomorrow morning.
