MLS Roundup: Keane hits hat trick, Gerrard takes bow as Galaxy defeat TFC
Montréal Impact 1 -- New York City FC 2
MONTREAL (AP) -- David Villa scored twice to help New York City FC beat the Montreal Impact 2-1 on Saturday night.
Josh Saunders had eight saves as NYCFC (5-8-5) defeated Montreal for the second time in three weeks after winning 3-1 at Yankee Stadium on June 13.
Ignacio Piatti scored from the penalty spot for the Impact (5-7-3), who lost for the first time at Saputo Stadium since May 9.
It looked as if Montreal and NYCFC were headed for a tie after Piatti scored in the 77th minute. But Villa curled a free kick around Montreal's wall and past goalkeeper Evan Bush for the Spanish striker's second goal in the 82nd minute.
The Impact controlled much of the game, outshooting New York 25-5.
LA Galaxy 4 -- Toronto FC 0
CARSON, Calif. (AP) -- Robbie Keane recorded his third-career hat trick to help the Los Angeles Galaxy beat Toronto FC 4-0 on Saturday night.
Keane, who had two hat tricks in the 2013 season, opened the scoring on a penalty kick in the ninth minute.
After he buried a cross from Baggio Husidic in the 41st, Keane intercepted Justin Morrow's back pass from near midfield and slipped past goalkeeper Chris Konopka to make it 3-0 about 18 minutes later.
Sebastian Lletget's goal in extra time capped the scoring.
Brian Rowe filled in for goalkeeper Jaime Penedo, who is playing for Panama in international competition, and earned his second shutout of the season for Los Angeles (8-6-7).
The Galaxy are 5-0-5 in their last 10 league matches with Toronto (7-7-2), dating to 2008.
SANDY, Utah (AP) -- Kaka was sent off in the 45th minute, but 10-man Orlando City held Real Salt Lake scoreless for the second half.
Orlando City (6-6-6) took the lead in the fifth minute on Kaka's ninth goal of the season. He got behind the defense on Pedro Ribeiro's feed and slotted home the right-footed shot.
Kaka received the red card after knocking RSL's Javier Morales to the ground and stepping on him as his momentum carried him past. Referee Sorin Stoica ruled it was a stomp.
Sebastian Jaime tied it for Real Salt Lake (5-6-8) in the 28th minute with a header from the middle of the box. It was the designated player's third goal in four matches after going scoreless for his first 11 MLS appearances.
FC Dallas 3 -- New England Revolution 0
FRISCO, Texas (AP) -- Mauro Diaz had an early goal and a late assist, helping FC Dallas to the victory.
Diaz also played a role in the second goal for FC Dallas (8-5-5) in the 64th minute, pressuring Revolution defender Jose Goncalves to create a deep giveaway. Diaz crossed it back to Fabian Castillo for a shot from the middle of the box. Bobby Shuttleworth made the save, but Scott Caldwell's clearance attempt ricocheted off teammate Jeremy Hall and back to Castillo, who finished the second chance.
Diaz opened the scoring in the ninth minute, slipping a free kick under New England's defensive wall of five players who all jumped in unison.
In the 73rd, Diaz split the central defense with a pass to Michael Barrios, who scored his first career MLS goal.
The Revolution (6-8-6) have lost four in a row.
Colorado Rapids 2 -- Vancouver Whitecaps 1
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) -- Kevin Doyle scored his first MLS goal to help Colorado stop a six-game winless streak.
Doyle put Colorado in front with a header off the bottom right corner of the post in the 56th minute. The Rapids' previous win came on May 23, when they beat Vancouver 1-0.
Colorado's Vicente Sanchez opened the scoring off a cross from Luis Solignac in the second minute.
Vancouver (10-7-2), which had won three in a row, tied it 18 minutes later when Kekuta Manneh put away a cross from Mauro Rosales.
Colorado (3-6-9), which came into the match having scored a league-low 12 goals, posted its first multigoal game since a 4-0 win over FC Dallas on April 20.
Columbus Crew SC 2 -- New York Red Bulls 1
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Kei Kamara set up Ethan Finlay's two goals, and the Crew rallied for the win.
The Kamara-to-Finlay connection was a role reversal for the league leaders in goals (Kamara 12) and assists (Finlay 10).
Finlay punched in Kamara's header to give Columbus (6-6-6) the lead in the 74th minute.
Anatole Abang put the Red Bulls (6-6-5) in front in the eighth minute, beating goalkeeper Steve Clark with a roller inside the far post.
Finlay tied it in the 33rd, taking a flick header from Kamara, cutting back and curling a left-footed shot into the net. Clark was credited with an assist on the long ball to Kamara.
Red Bulls coach Jesse Marsch was sent off in stoppage time.
