SAN DIEGO (AP) -- The San Diego Chargers reached their roster limit of 53 players with one exception: Joey Bosa.

The third pick of the draft wasn't counted against the Chargers' limit Saturday. The defensive end has a roster exemption after missing the preseason and training camp because of a contract dispute.

Among those released was fullback Chris Swain, an undrafted rookie who's a Naval Reserve officer. Swain had a rushing touchdown on Thursday's "Salute to the Military Night" against the 49ers.

Rookie Mike Bercovici of Arizona State was cut, with the Chargers electing to carry two quarterbacks in Philip Rivers and Kellen Clemens.

Defensive tackle Damion Square was placed on reserve-suspended as he'll miss the first four games for violating the NFL's performance enhancing drugs policy.

Offensive lineman Spencer Pulley, running back Kenneth Farrow and linebacker Chris Landrum made the squad as undrafted free agents. It marked the 19th straight year an undrafted rookie made the Chargers' roster.
