The Twins' home, Target Field, is hosting more college football.

The North Dakota State Bison will host Butler University August 31, 2019 in the season opener.

"The Minnesota Twins are excited to play host to NDSU-Butler at Target Field," Twins President Dave St. Peter said in a release. "The powerful tradition of NDSU football should create a special atmosphere within the ballpark. I have no doubt Bison Nation will be headquartered in the Twin Cities that weekend."

The first-ever football game at Target Field will feature a Division III matchup between St. Thomas and Saint John's University September 23, 2017.

Bison head coach Chris Klieman says playing a game in a major league stadium is beneficial to the program.

"Bison Nation is well represented in the Twin Cities," NDSU head coach Chris Klieman said. "Having this opportunity will be exciting for our team to play in front of our fans in such an incredible venue. It will also aid us in recruiting, as Minneapolis-St. Paul is one of our most prominent recruiting areas."

Ticket information is not yet available.
