New Mexico State heads to Louisiana-Lafayette seeking 3rd straight win
With a two-game winning streak and an extra week of preparation following its second bye, New Mexico State heads to Lafayette, La., to take on UL-Lafayette in a Sun Belt Conference game at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The Aggies (2-7, 2-3 Sun Belt) are coming off a 31-21 road win at Texas State, fueled by sophomore Larry Rose III's 292 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns. Rose ran for 207 yards on 30 carries to push his season total to 1,290 rushing yards, best in the Sun Belt.
Quarterback Nick Jeanty also is coming off an impressive performance in which he completed 24 of 45 passes for 297 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
UL-Lafayette (4-5, 3-2 Sun Belt) is coming off a 32-25 loss to South Alabama. The Ragin' Cajuns lead the all-time series 6-3, including a 44-16 win last year in Las Cruces.
