NFL Quick Hits: Waiting for Edelman
Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) has been out of action since breaking his foot in Week 10, but he's participated in three consecutive practices and has a chance to play against the Titans on Sunday. The Pats haven't divulged much about Edelman's status, and without knowing if or how much he'll play, I've tentatively got him at WR26. Hopefully, we'll know more later on Friday.
In other news ...
Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (concussion) missed another practice on Thursday, and has been declared OUT for Week 15.
Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said Thursday that it's "too soon" to rule out RB T.J. Yeldon for Sunday's game against the Falcons, but it seems unlikely that Yeldon will play (he's listed as doubtful). Don't be shy about rolling with replacement Denard Robinson in a fantasy playoff game; I've got him at RB16.
With Jonathan Stewart (ankle) out for the Panthers, Fozzy Whittaker seems like a good bet to lead the team's backfield committee. He's at RB27 in my rankings.
Bryce Brown, Christine Michael and Derrick Coleman "all have a real shot to carry a significant portion of the load" this week, according to the Seahawks' website. Thanks for the clarification, guys.
Other than wishing Doug Martin had scored a touchdown, there wasn't anything unusual about Thursday's Bucs-Rams #condimentbowl. Nice job by Tavon Austin scoring twice on seven touches. It's too bad those games are almost impossible to predict for him.
Bears WR Alshon Jeffery reportedly missed practice on Thursday because of an illness. If Jeffery really was sick instead of dealing with his nagging calf injury, then his chances to play Sunday are probably pretty good.
Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (rib) didn't practice again on Thursday. If Ware can't play, the Charcnado could be very busy against the Ravens.
Reminder: There's a Saturday night game (Jets-Cowboys). Set your lineups accordingly.
Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (knee) was back at practice on Thursday, and head coach Jay Gruden is "hopeful" that his deep threat will be able to play against the Bills. With Bills CB Stephon Gilmore (shoulder) done for the season, Jackson is an interesting WR3. He's a boom-or-bust play, just like always.
Bills RB Karlos Williams (shoulder), who has been out since Week 12, is tracking toward a gametime decision.
Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) is expected to return to action this week, joining Ronnie Hillman against a Steelers' defense that's allowing 88 rushing yards per game and just 3.8 per carry. Ugh.
Colts QB Matt Hasselbeck (rib) seems like an iffy proposition to play against the Texans, since he's having trouble breathing and all. Charlie Whitehurst will play if Hasselbeck can't. WR Donte Moncrief (toe) hasn't practiced this week but expects to play.
Texans RB Alfred Blue was "banged up last week" and is expected to return to the running back rotation, according to the team's website. Avoid this quagmire if you can.
It sounds like 49ers WR Torrey Smith (back) might miss Sunday's game, but TE Vance McDonald (concussion) could return. Remember that McDonald went 10-136-2 in the two games prior to his injury.
The Ravens are still undecided about who will start at quarterback on Sunday - it'll be Matt Schaub if he's healthy enough. Backup RB/nuisance Terrance West (calf) was limited in Thursday's practice.
DFS notes (salaries from DraftKings): At QB, I really like Matthew Stafford ($6,100), Blake Bortles ($6,100) and Alex Smith ($5,100). I can't see paying up at this position due to all the good value ... At RB, LeSean McCoy looks downright cheap at $6,300, while Fozzy Whittaker ($3,000) is the best value from among the fill-ins. I can't say I trust Whittaker, but at the minimum price I like him enough for a tournament play ... Julio Jones ($8,500) is my favorite from among the big four, and Tyler Lockett ($4,200) could win people money while everyone chases teammate Doug Baldwin. I love Golden Tate ($5,500), who has caught 32 passes in his last four games ... Saints TE Ben Watson ($4,800) is a solid cash play, while Lions TE Eric Ebron ($3,000) gets a soft opponent along with an expanded role ... The Seahawks ($4,200) and Chiefs ($3,700) are the obvious DST choices, but I have no idea why the Texans ($2,500) are so cheap versus the Hasselbeck/Whitehurst combo.

Find us on Twitter (@jhalpin37, @FOXSportsFowler, @FOXSportsMeyer, @FOXSportsFoster), check out our Week 15 rankings and come to our chat on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. ET (I'll have the 11 o'clock hour). We'll have your questions covered, but can't stress enough that waiting until 15 minutes before kickoff is a bad plan.
Good luck this week!
