Nieuwenhuis' homer lifts Brewers past Indians 5-4

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit a two-run homer in the first inning as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Cleveland 5-4 on Sunday.

Cleveland's Mike Napoli hit a three-run shot in the first inning against Brewers starter Chase Anderson. Yan Gomes followed with a drive to left for his second spring homer, lifting Cleveland's split-squad to a 4-2 lead.

Anderson allowed five hits in three innings.

Cleveland's Josh Tomlin allowed two runs and three hits in three innings. Bryan Shaw and Joba Chamberlain each pitched a scoreless inning for the Indians.
