Pacers send GRIII back to Mad Ants, then recall him later in day
The Indiana Pacers continued to prep forward Glenn Robinson III for a return to their NBA roster with another rehab assignment to Fort Wayne. But he won't be playing a game there -- at least not this time.
Robinson was assigned to the Mad Ants on Monday. The team was in Indianapolis and for GRIII to practice with them, the assignment was necessary. The forward was recalled by the Pacers later in the day.
Robinson has made two previous trips to the Pacers' G League affiliate as part of his recovery from left ankle surgery. He averaged 11.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in two games with the Mad Ants.
Robinson, 24, injured his ankle during training camp. He averaged 6.1 points and 3.6 rebounds for Indiana last season, when he was the league's slam dunk champion at NBA All-Star weekend.
