Packers shooting for a little team unity
GREEN BAY, Wis. — With less than one hour before the start of the Green Bay Packers' second day of minicamp Wednesday, the team canceled practice in order to conduct a private team function.
It turns out that private team function was clay shooting. Yes, the Packers traded in helmets and footballs for guns and clay targets.
Undrafted rookie wide receiver Dale Moss, who played college football at South Dakota State, tweeted: "Soooo team building today is clay shooting, lol, definitely something that'd be going on in South Dakota too."
This is not the first time in coach Mike McCarthy's seven seasons in Green Bay the Packers have canceled a minicamp session in favor of a team-building day. Previously, the team has tried out paintball, bowling and a home run derby.
Tweets from before and after the team took up arms were equally amusing.
Before, from tight end Tom Crabtree: "#friendship #teambuilding #smiles #weapons"
After, from offensive lineman T.J. Lang: "Well nobody got shot today. #success"
After taking the day off from football, the Packers will return to the practice field Thursday morning for the final day of minicamp. That will be their last day together as a team until the start of training camp on July 26.
