Packers snap counts: Montgomery makes presence known against Cowboys
Certainly, the Green Bay Packers hope their performance against the Dallas Cowboys isn't a hint of what the future holds for them.
However, might it have offered a glimpse of offensive personnel? In particular, will wide receiver Ty Montgomery have a bigger impact this season?
The 2015 third-round draft pick easily had his best game as a pro, catching 10 passes for 98 yards -- which nearly equaled his entire production from his rookie year when he had 15 receptions for 136 yards.
Montgomery did this playing in half of Green Bay's offensive snaps, or 35. In the first four games this season, Montgomery had played just 17 offensive snaps, with a high of 11 in Week 1.
Some other notes from Sunday's snap counts:
-- Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix once again played every defensive snap. He has been in on every defensive play this season.
-- Safety Morgan Burnett also was in on every snap. He has played 100 percent of the snaps in three of his four games.
-- Despite James Starks being out, running back Eddie Lacy was in on just 31 snaps (44 percent).
-- After not appearing on offense in the first two games, wide receiver Jeff Janis has seen his snaps increase from 3 to 13 to a season-high 32 against Dallas.
-- Linebacker Joe Thomas had appeared in more than 50 percent of the defensive snaps in the previous two games, but was in on only 10 (15 percent) against the Cowboys.
-- Coming off suspensions, defensive back Demetri Goodson appeared in 36 snaps (55 percent) and defensive lineman Mike Pennel 13 snaps (20 percent).
