Padres mid-game report: Padres trying to claw back, Allen goes 4-4 with three doubles in AA

SAN DIEGO-- After falling down 4-0 in the game's first three innings, the San Diego Padres have cut the deficit in half.

New York scored solo runs in the first and second innings off of Padres starter Bryan Mitchell. In the third inning, they added two more runs on a two-run double by former Padre Adrian Gonzalez.

Mitchell ended up throwing 4 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and four runs. He walked four and struck out five.

The Padres have had men on the bases throughout the first four innings, outhitting the Mets 6-5. To this point, their only hit with runners in scoring position came from SS Freddy Galvis, who drove home two in the third inning with an RBI single up the middle.

San Diego has left six runners on base and is 1-6 with RISP.

Injury Note:

Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes exited Sunday's ballgame with a sore left thumb. The injury occurred after he swiped third base in the third inning.

AA San Antonio pounds out 14 runs and 16 hits in win

The San Antonio Missions beat the Midland Rockhounds 14-0 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Missions improved to 14-9 on the season.

Leading the way was Austin Allen, who went 4-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and a walk.

1B Josh Naylor recorded a 2-5 day, while SS Fernando Tatis Jr. walked twice in a 1-3 effort out of the leadoff spot.

20-year-old Logan Allen threw seven shutout innings, giving up only three hits. He struck out six.
