Panthers assign Matheson, McKegg, Shaw to Portland

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Florida Panthers Executive Vice President and General Manager Dale Tallon announced Wednesday that the Panthers have assigned defenseman Michael Matheson and forwards Greg McKegg and Logan Shaw to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Portland Pirates.
The Pirates are currently tied 1-1 in their best-of-five first round Calder Cup Playoff series against the Hershey Bears. The Pirates travel to Hershey for Game 3 on Thursday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m.
The 22-year old Matheson played in three games with the Panthers during the regular season and five Stanley Cup Playoff games, recording one assist. The 6-foot-2, 192-pound native of Point-Claire, Quebec has played in 54 games this season with Portland recording 20 points (8-12-20).
Matheson was originally selected by the Panthers in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.
The 23-year old McKegg played in 15 games with the Panthers this season, recording two goals and played in one Stanley Cup Playoff game. The 6-foot, 191-pound native of St. Thomas, Ontario has played in 47 games this season with Portland recording 23 points (10-13-23).
McKegg was originally selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round (62nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.
The 23-year old Shaw played in 53 games with the Panthers this season, recording seven points (5-2-7) and played in three Stanley Cup Playoff games. The 6-foot-3, 202-pound native of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia has played in 19 games this season with Portland recording 14 points (11-3-14).
Shaw was originally selected by the Panthers in the third round (76th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
