Pass or fail? 2016 NFL Draft grades for Los Angeles Rams

The 2016 NFl Draft grades and in ... and the Rams did well.

By selecting QB Jared Goff, a pair of WRs in Pharoh Cooper and Mike Thomas, two tight ends in Tyler Higbee and Temarrick Hemingway and a single linebacker, Josh Forrest, the Rams added weapons where they were needed most ... on offense.

Here's a quick report card on all the picks, plus a little hype video to get you fired up for the fall.

Jared Goff, first round, No. 1 overall, QB, Cal

The Rams identified their franchise quarterback and pulled the trigger with the Draft's No. 1 pick. Despite over 4,700 passing yards and 43 TDs in his final season at Cal, Goff did struggle at times with accuracy and movement within the pocket. The future of Los Angeles' 'newest' franchise will ride on the shoulders of Goff. Grade: B

Tyler Higbee, fourth, 110, TE, Western Kentucky

Higbee, the seventh tight end off the board, should provide some immediate help with his 6-foot-6, 249-pound frame. The concern with Higbeee is his off-the-field issues, including an arrest for alleged assault in early April. If he can clear up his legal battles, Higbee should see the field early in his Rams tenure. Grade: C-

Pharoh Cooper, fourth, 117, WR, South Carolina

Cooper knows having him on one side and Tavon Austin on the other will give opposing defenses fits in 2016. With nearly 1,000 receiving yards and eight scores with the Gamecocks in 2015, Cooper, who also tallied 20-plus rushing attempts in each of his three collegiate seasons, should be able to make an immediate impact on the Rams' offensive unit. Grade: B+

Temarrick Hemingway, sixth, 177, TE, South Carolina State

The second TE in this draft class, Hemingway is also a candidate to see the field in Week 1. At 6-5, 244, Cooper can line up as a tight end or split out wide as a receiver. He has speed (4.71 40-yard dash at NFL Combine) and some moves (placed at top in three-cone drill and 60-yard shuttle). Grade: B-

Josh Forrest, sixth, 190, LB, Kentucky

Hard to believe, but Forrest is still new to football, only picking up the game during his junior year of high school. Forrest, who earned a starting linebacker job for the 2014 season at Kentucky, is a raw player, but one the Rams feel can bring speed and athleticism to the position: Grade: C

Mike Thomas, sixth, 206, WR, Southern Miss

"I bring dynamic playmaking skills," Thomas said after he was drafted. Hard to argue after Thomas caught 71 passes for nearly 1,400 yards and 14 scores in 2015. At 6-1, 200 pounds, Thomas' speed (4.53 in 40) and explosiveness (36-inch vertical) will quickly find a home in the Rams' receiving corps. Grade: C

Final 2016 NFL Draft Grade: B-

Tight end Tyler Higbee

Receiver Pharoh Cooper
