Tuesday versus the Sacramento Kings, Pelicans forward Ryan Anderson could have a record-breaking night.
Anderson is within striking distance of setting a new franchise record for most all-time points scored from the bench.
Jannero Pargo holds the current record with 1,214 points.
Anderson now has 1,209 points off the bench, just six points shy of re-writing Pargo's record.
Pargo played for the New Orleans franchise from 2006-2008. Most fans will remember him best for his performance during the 2008 playoffs when Pargo relieved Chris Paul. He averaged 10.3 points in 12 playoff games. The then New Orleans Hornets played the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference semi-finals, and Pargo's three-point shot was especially key in Game 7.
Pargo appeared in 150 games off the bench for New Orleans.
Anderson reached this point total much more quickly, appearing in just 76 games from the bench for New Orleans, heading into Tuesday's match up with the Sacramento Kings.
It would especially meaningful for Anderson to set this record Tuesday because Sacramento is his hometown. Anderson attended high school at Oak Ridge in El Dorado Hills. He helped lead the Trojans to the Division II California State Championship, which was played in Arco Arena.
