Pete Rose Jr. named manager of White Sox Class-A team

Pete Rose Jr. has been named the manager of the Kannapolis Intimidators, a Class-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, the minor league team announced on Tuesday.

Son of baseball's all-time hits leader of the same name, Rose spent the last three seasons managing the White Sox' rookie-level team in the Pioneer League. He led the Great Falls Voyagers to a second-half division championship record of 48-28 last season.

Before joining the White Sox, Rose began his coaching career in 2010 as a hitting coach in the independent Frontier League.

As a player, he appeared in 11 games with the Cincinnati Reds in 1997 and spent 14 seasons in the minors with affiliates of the Orioles, White Sox, Indians, Reds and Pirates from 1989-'02. Between 2003-'09, Rose Jr. played in Mexico and with three different independent ballclubs.

While his father, whom he has a great relationship with, is banned from Major League Baseball, Rose Jr. has aspirations to manage in the big leagues.

So there's a chance that a "Rose 14" jersey might someday be managing in the majors again.
