BAD MITTERNDORF, Austria (AP) Peter Prevc of Slovenia soared 244 meters to clinch the ski flying world championship title with a hill record in a shortened competition on Saturday.

Prevc's record-breaking effort came in the third heat and officials cancelled the final run because of strong winds and an incoming snow front.

Kenneth Ganges of Norway took the silver medal, after leading Prevc at the end of the first two heats. He landed a jump of 238.5 meters. Prevc added the world crown to the prestigious Four Hills title with 640.1 points. Ganges collected 636.8 points.

Stefan Kraft of Austria earned the bronze medal by flying 226.5 meters to finish with 629.2 points.
