Prevc wins 2nd stage of 4 Hills Tour

GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (AP) World Cup leader Peter Prevc of Slovenia soared 136 meters in the second heat to win the second leg of the ski jumping Four Hills Tour on Friday.

The victory puts Prevc in the tour lead as the competition heads for the final two events in Austria.

Prevc led Severin Freund of Germany after the first heat with an effort of 133.5 meters and then produced the longest jump of the day to finish with a winning total of 272.7 points.

Freund, who won the opening leg in Oberstdorf three days ago, dropped to third - behind Kenneth Gangnes of Norway, who had a second effort of 134 meters. Gangnes jumped 132 meters in the first heat for a total of 260.1 points.

Freund collected 256.8 points for jumps of 133.5 and 132.5 meters.

Johann Andre Forfang of Norway was fourth, ahead of Michael Hayboeck of Austria and Richard Freitag of Germany. Anders Fannemel of Norway was seventh.

Prevc has won four of the last five World Cup events and leads overall with 724 points, ahead of Freund with 559 and Gangnes with 490.

In the Four Hills standings, Prevc is ahead with 572.6 points. Freund has 564 and Hayboeck 551.5.

The tour continues Sunday in Innsbruck.
