Pumphrey, defense leads San Diego St. past UNLV 52-14

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Donnel Pumphrey ran for 139 yards and two touchdowns and the San Diego State defense forced four turnovers as the Aztecs rolled to a 52-14 win over UNLV on Saturday night.

Rashad Penny added 81 yards rushing and a score for San Diego State (8-3, 7-0 Mountain West). The Aztecs clinched berth into the Mountain West Championship game and opened the season 7-0 in conference play for the first time in school history.

San Diego State has won five-straight games by at least 23 points, the longest active streak in FBS.

UNLV (3-8, 2-5) had nearly as many turnovers (five) as first downs (seven) in the first half and went into the break trailing 31-0. The Rebels were held to a season-low 80 yards rushing.

San Diego State ran for 286 yards and five scores and limited UNLV to 270 total yards.

Kendal Keys had eight catches for 76 yards and a touchdown for UNLV.
