Rangers send down Gallo for Hamilton
The Rangers sent Joey Gallo to Triple A Round Rock Tuesday to make room for outfielder Josh Hamilton.
Gallo has never played at Triple A as he was promoted from Double A to the majors June 2. He played in 25 games for Texas, starting at third base, left field and centerfield. He batted .218 with five home runs and 13 RBI. Gallo hit homers in each of his first two games but also had 43 strikeouts in 87 at-bats.
With both Hamilton and third baseman Adrian Beltre now healthy the Rangers have no room in their lineup for Gallo.
Hamilton went on the disabled list June 4 with a strained left hamstring. He played in just seven games for the Rangers before getting hurt. Hamilton hit .273 with two home runs and five RBI. Hamilton hurt the hamstring while hitting a walk-off double May 31.
