By Ross Jones, FOXSports.com There’s nothing like winning a Super Bowl. You get the trip to the White House, make appearances on nationally televised talk shows, witness your market value increase and of course, earn a championship ring. Hey, the Ravens are so nice that they hooked up their full-time employees with rings, too. Well, one Ravens staffer is without her Super Bowl ring after her boyfriend lost it in the Chesapeake Bay. This is a true story, folks. Ravens receptionist Toni Lekas and her boyfriend Chuck Lykes were enjoying themselves at a boat party on Aug. 3. Lekas decided she wanted to leave the party and Lykes asked if he could hold onto the ring as a friend was coming and he wanted to show it off. In good faith, Lekas left the ring with him. While the group was looking to dock the boat someone asked Lykes to grab a rope below deck, according to the story on the team’s official website. Once he pulled the rope, the ring hooked and was tugged off his finger and flew into the bay. “You know how you see in movies when things happen in slow-mo?” Lykes said. “It felt like it took an hour for that thing to drop in the water.” Lykes immediately jumped into the water searching for the ring, but was unable to find it after three hours. The next day, he hired a diver but that wasn’t successful, either. Lekas was so infuriated that she told him if he was unable to find the ring, she didn’t think their relationship would survive. After three more unsuccessful tries, Lekas notified the Ravens of the mishap and they got in touch with the NFL. Because Lekas insured her ring, the league approved the creation of another one and she’ll be receiving it sometime soon. “It was such a relief,” Lekas said. “Now it’s going in a safety deposit box. I’m not going to keep it at home, it’s just too stressful.” Oh yeah, and if you’re wondering Toni and Chuck’s relationship is as strong as ever. Questions? Comments?
