Matt Moore was quick and efficient Tuesday. The Tampa Bay Rays left-hander retired three batters -- Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez, St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and Rockies infielder Troy Tulowitzki -- in nine pitches in the bottom of the fifth inning for the American League in the MLB All-Star Game at Citi Field in New York. Moore, named to his first All-Star Game, is 13-3 with a 3.44 ERA in 19 starts this season. He was named a replacement for injured Texas Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish, who has struggled with an upper back strain. Meanwhile, Rays head athletic trainer Ron Porterfield was kept busy early as the AL trainer. In the first, he tended to New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano when a throw from the National League's starting pitcher, New York Mets right-hander Matt Harvey, struck Cano on the right quadriceps. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported that Cano sustained a minor quadriceps injury. X-rays were negative.
